Here is your chance to pick up a most incredible piece of militaria. Here we have an original funeral pillow covering with both the padding and fringe removed. There are loops to affix a medal bar sewn to the pillow cover and I have found a period image of one being used at a fallen Luftwaffe plot’s funeral. Very rare in my opinion and looks incredible on display. High quality chain stitching and extremely detailed as can be seen in the photographs. There appears to be a few bits of adhesive? spilled onto the fabric which may come out with some light cleaning if so desired. At any rate, this piece is truly remarkable and measures roughly 25-11/16″ long and around 15-9/16 wide. Personally, I don’t think there’s a more impressive motif of the Third Reich other than an eagle holding a pair of swords with an iron cross on the chest. An impressive piece to say the least. The Kyffhäuserbund was established in 1900 that would unite the formerly scattered German war veterans’ associations. Some of these organizations had been already administrating the maintenance of the memorial together. The league was initially named Kyffhäuser League of the German Countries’ Warriors Associations, a name that became later abbreviated to Kyffhäuserbund. By 1913, this umbrella organization had already 2.8 million war veterans as its members and it had become one of the largest societies in Germany. During the time of the German Empire, the Kyffhäuserbund was instrumentalized against the growing social democratic movement in Germany. The difficult circumstances of World War I’s postwar years led to a significant shrinking of the veterans’ associations and their role. During the Weimar Republic in 1921, this organization shed its federal structure and centralized itself under a common leadership. Following this step, it changed its name to German Warriors Association Kyffhäuser. The Kyffhäuserbund was nazified after the Nazi takeover of power in 1933. Five years later, its name was altered to Nationalsocialist Reich Warriors Association (NS-Reichskriegerbund), becoming the sole and exclusive organization representing the veterans’ interests in the Third Reich.Free shipping ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD & I don’t charge PayPal fees like some of the other guys!
