Here’s a nice example of a japanese insignia. Embroidered construction with a metal anchor device. The anchor emblem with flag is for merchant marines, and the background is a sleeve insignia. Likely personally done by the sailor. This example has minor wear from over the years as you can see in the photos but will display great with other items regardless.
