Description
Here’s your chance to own a very handsome uniform grouping to a Heer Pioneer officer. Included is an officer tunic, a greatcoat, and an officer’s visor, all black piped for Pioneers. The tunic is in great condition overall with absolute minimal moth damage. Original machine applied insignia and a hand sewn bullion breast eagle. Ribbon bar loops with a 4 place ribbon bar included. Greatcoat is also in excellent condition with no major moth damage and period applied insignia. Typical signs of wear throughout. Visor cap sports an aluminum visor cap eagle and a bullion wreath. Weiblen marked silk lining and Wirklich marked leather sweat band. Looks to be a period repair to the back of the cap, with some material overlap on the dark band. There are removed name tags in both the tunic and greatcoat, while the name in the visor is blacked out. Surely a set that’s been together since 1945! A great instant uniform group that would display great! Belt is not included in this listing. During World War II, a total of about 13.6 million soldiers served in the German Army. Germany’s army personnel were made up of volunteers and conscripts. Only 17 months after Adolf Hitler announced publicly the German rearmament program, the Army reached its projected goal of 36 divisions. During the autumn of 1937, two more corps were formed. In 1938 four additional corps were formed with the inclusion of the five divisions of the Austrian Army after the Anschluss in March. During the period of its expansion under Hitler, the German Army continued to develop concepts pioneered during World War I, combining ground (Army) and air (Luftwaffe) assets into combined arms forces. The German military managed quick victories in the two initial years of World War II, a new style of warfare described as Blitzkrieg for its speed and destructive power.
