Here’s your chance to pick up a very nice German Cross in Gold by Zimmerman. Known to souvenir hungry GI’s as “Hitler’s fried egg” and highly sought after. The German Cross was instituted by Adolf Hitler on 28 September 1941. The Gold class was awarded for repeated acts of bravery or achievement in combat. This is a lightweight example that is nicely stamped “20” on the underside of the reverse pin. Has the correct die flaw at the 10 O’clock position. The swastika has the some very minor scratches to the black enamel as can be seen in the photos but nothing major whatsoever. This piece is loaded with patina and just the right amount of wear.
