This album has every page dated by the month and year which they were taken, and starts off in May of 1941 in the Yugoslavian campaign in Sarajevo. All of the photos are additionally captioned with detailed explanations and locations where the photos were taken. Photos from August of 1941 show the captured destroyed city of Smolensk. Photos which are specifically dated the 3rd of October 1941 show the aftermath destruction and carnage of the Battle of Bryansk, which was one of the last strongholds before Moscow itself. The additional 600,000 prisoners taken during this engagement are photographed and shown as well. October 1941 captures the Russian rainy season and mud which slowed down the advancing army.
