Here is your chance to pick up an example of a Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet badge. This example is maker marked on the reverse for Schwerin. Produced in tombak and nice finish overall. Hand engraving on the reverse which looks possibly like a name, but is very hard to make out. Professionally repaired catch which is nearly unnoticeable to the untrained eye. A nice example overall and would display great with other badges from the period! At the direction of Grand Admiral Erich Raeder, commander in chief of the navy, the Fleet War badge was instituted on April 30 1941 to recognize the sea actions of the German Navy, mainly in actions against England. The designer was Adolf Bock of Berlin. Even though the badge was instituted in 1941, it was awarded for actions prior to that date.
