Here is your chance to own a rare Latin script Deutschland flat wire officer’s cuff title. A much harder to find variant than the Gothic style script. This salty and well used example is machine-produced and textbook in construction. The ends are frayed and this piece was clearly worn & removed from a uniform sleeve. A fantastic example that exhibits period wear throughout. Regiment “Deutschland” was within SS-Verfügungstruppe (SS-VT) and like everything listed on this website this piece is absolutely guaranteed authentic. The SS-Standarte Deutschland was formed in 1934 as SS-Standarte 2 / VT from Politische Bereitschaft Würtemberg, Politische Bereitschaft München and Hilfswerk Schleissheim (Austrian volunteers). It was soon renamed SS-Standarte 1 / VT when Hitler ordered that SS-Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler (LAH) would not be included in the numbering sequence. It was renamed SS-Standarde Deutschland at the Parteitag at Nuremberg 1935 and at the same time it also received its Deutschland Erwache standard. In the summer of 1937 the unit became the first to be fully equipped with modern military camouflage clothing. The command of this unit was transferred to the army during the mobilization in October 1938. The Deutschland Regiment took part in the annexation of Austria and later the occupation of the Sudetenland. After the Anschluss the Regiment was motorized and took part in the annexation of Bohemia and Moravia in March 1939. It was ordered by Hitler that it should be expanded to a division but this was postponed due to the outbreak of war.
