Here we have a rare version of the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords. This example is Spanish produced and is far more rare than it’s German counterpart. As can be seen in the photos, it is a beautiful piece. The War Merit Cross (Das Kriegsverdienst Kreuz, or KVK), was instituted on October 18, 1939. Formed an integral part of the awards structure of the Third Reich by filling voids which would otherwise exist both in the civilian and military areas. The War Merit Cross with Swords was presented to military personnel for courage and achievements (which needed not occur while facing the enemy).
