Description
Here is your chance to own an interesting and MASSIVE grouping named to Norman C. Hammond. This includes just about everything saved by him related to his service, starting with his high school report card and recommendation letters from his high school in California. Initially he served in the Army Reserves, but by 1935 Norman was serving in the marines attached to the USS Louisville. The USS Louisville would bring his service to Alaska, where he would switch to the air force. He would obtain the surrender documents of Japanese who surrendered on Attu Island, Alaska which are shown in period newspaper clippings. The newspaper only mentions 1 surrender document, but there are 2 present in the group. His service in the air force would eventually bring him to Europe, where he would bring back some small German pieces as well including a polizei cap badge, a merit cross 2nd class packet, a merit medal ribbon, and other misc smalls. The most curious of the pieces he brought home are 2 pieces of wood claimed to have belonged to Hitler’s desk and chair as well as a stamp on cloth which he claims was from under Hitler’s chair. Hammond continued to work with the military post war with intelligence based on some documents present. There are a lot of documents here, which basically map out the majority of Hammond’s service with the US military. Very interesting to go through. The documents vary in condition from great to dry and cracking, refer to the scans to see individual conditions. The scrapbook has virtually fallen apart, but is still present. Absolutely guaranteed authentic! Please see the photos in the link below to see the full scope of this grouping.CLICK HERE to view more images of this grouping!
